Wedding this weekend? Here’s what to wear and why it works:
(We will be expanding on each of these wardrobe choices in future posts- this is just a crash course in wedding wear)
Shirt- Solid shirts are conservative, and look great (see photo below) but summer is the time to try new things. Take (or buy) a shirt with a nice colorful pattern like a stripe. Use this as the foundation of your combination.
Tie- Find a tie that is not the same color as your shirt. This is a mistake many people make- they wear a red shirt and red tie. Don’t do that. Find a tie with colors that tie together with your shirt. The tie’s pattern should be different than the pattern on your shirt- otherwise it looks messy (dots and stripes tend to work well…if you’re wearing a striped shirt and striped tie, make sure the stripes are different sizes).
Pocket square- Wear a pocket square that has similar colors to the shirt and tie. You don’t need to totally match your tie and your pocket square. White pocket squares are always a good choice.
Try this- Take the stitch in the lapel and put a knot cufflink in it (if your lapel stitch is not open, cut it open with a razor). This is a nice way to add some additional personality to your suit.
Enjoy being the best dressed guy in the room!
